The online articles about plagiarism were very interesting and very enlightening and also very long. Before I read the articles I thought that plagiarism was just copy something exactly from the internet or from someone else’s work and putting it in your essay, project, or work. I thought plagiarism was just copying and not citing where it came from, just claiming that you were the author, creator, or inventor of something. However, the articles enlightened me in detail about plagiarism really is. I learned that you can cite authors but if your paper is filled with citations then your not being original. When you paraphrase you are still using someone else’s idea but you are rewording it so you must cite it because it’s not your idea it’s just your words. I thought this was interesting because I didn’t realize that you’re supposed to cite something you paraphrase. When you get information from the internet do not copy and paste. But if you chose to cute and paste be sure to cite properly. It’s better to be honest and get a lower grade then to plagiarize and risk horrible consequences. Always be sure to put quotes because if you forget this little thing, it could lead to plagiarism. If you get a significant amount of help from others give them some credit. Even if you don’t mean to do it or you didn’t realize that you have plagiarized you are still held fully responsible. Now I know how serious it is to plagiarize and what it is.
