On Saturday morning, when we went to visit the Student Resource Center, I discovered a couple things I didn't know before. I had been to the Student Resource Center only once before and it was at orientation. Unlike, on Saturday, the first time I was at the Student Resource Center I was there briefly and I did not explore. However, on Saturday I discovered that there is a Women’s Center that focuses on the needs of women. In this center, they also offer a private library for women to study, which I think is pretty cool! They also offer a massage chair that is for everyone! I was really interested in the Chicano/ Latino resource center. I found favor in this center because I am of Latina decent so it's always interesting to learn about your culture. Inside there was poetry, books, and posters about Hispanic culture. They also had African American, Asian American, and Middle Eastern resource centers. Because I had class and my professor did not allow me to go the Majors/ Minors fair. However, from what I heard the fair was interesting. In college I think it is very important to use your resources. You’re paying for everything at the school so take advantage! I think the best way to meet people is to be outgoing! If you want to not only meet people but want them to remember who you are be outgoing and stand out! Everyone feels the same way you do, we’re all first years! So don’t be shy or close minded!

ReplyDeleteEverything that you mentioned about the Student Resource Building sounds so interesting! When I was there I didn't find a couple of those centers, so it's awesome that I got to hear them from your post! Speaking of other resources, the Majors/ Minors fair was interesting, but lot of the information you can find on the internet or talk to an undergraduate advisor. So, you did not miss very much. But I totally agree with everything else you said! I feel like everyone should take advantage of their resources especially because we have such great ones here.
