MacBeth Play

I'm not really the kind of person to watch plays, I'm much more of a musical kind of person. However, the Macbeth play was somewhat interesting. It was very confusing but it was definitely different then what I expected it to be. I thought they would stay true to the original play with a couple minor adjustments or differences. But I think it strayed from the original play. It was a bit confusing because most of the characters were played by females/women even if the character was a man they would have a female play the part of a male. It was also confusing because there were no costumes and many of the actors were playing multiple characters but you couldn't tell when they were playing a different character because there were no costumes and everyone just wore black. The lack of props and costumes made it difficult to understand. However, the most confusing part was the dialect. They used old English which is hard to read and understand but even harder to watch and understand. It was very difficult to understand what they were saying and to keep up with what was going on in the play. The most controversial part in the play, among my fellow FSSP members, was the kiss. Everyone in FSSP thought the kiss was strange, to say the least, because an older professor kissed a student. That was what most students talked about from the play. Overall, the play was somewhat interesting but defiantly confusing.

  1. Hey Sam! I totally agree with your opinion on the play. The lack of props and costumes to distinguish the characters made it difficult to keep up with. Although I think that’s is what made the play unique, because it wasn’t just another remake of the original play. The dialect, I agree, was so confusing to understand, and I honestly think they should have tried to change it to modern English since they went with the whole modern theme of no props and costumes. But the play was good, I mean, no one forgot their lines or fell off stage, so I think they can call it a success.
